Water makes up approximately 70% of a human’s body weight, with approximately 80% of brain tissue being made of water. The average amount of water you need per day is about 3 liters (13 cups) for men and 2.2 liters (9 cups) for women. By the time you feel thirsty, your body has lost more than 1 percent of its total water. Drinking water can help prevent or reduce arthritis, heart disease, cancer, cavities and tooth decay. Water can help you lose weight by increasing your metabolism, which helps burn calories faster. Since water is so important, maybe its time you invest in clean, refreshing water.
What is a Water Filtration System?
Although most sources of drinking water are generally safe, the use of a filter system helps remove many organic compounds that may give rise to illness. Water Softeners
Nearly 85% of US homes have hard water. While rainwater is “soft” when it falls from the sky, as groundwater it flows and can absorb minerals such as calcium, magnesium and trace metals. While safe to drink, hard water can reduce the effectiveness of soaps and detergents, which can result in bathtub rings, spots on dishes, less effective clothes washing and less effective rinsing of soaps and shampoos. Deposits from hard water can leave scale deposits and mineral build-up in coffee makers, water supply pipes, ceramic tile and Water Heaters. This can reduce the water flow, shorten the lifespan of a water heater and cause long-term damage to plumbing and fixtures. Water softeners are devices designed to reduce the amount or effects of minerals in your home’s water system.
Water Softener Parts & How They Work
Water softeners are typically installed inside a home near the entry point of the water supply. They have the following primary parts:
- The softener tank (mineral tank) is connected to the household water supply line and contains resin beads (plastic beads usually made from polystyrene) that draw the mineral from the water.
- The brine tank is connected by a fill tube to the softener tank and is used to regenerate the resin beads. The brine tank has a removable lid for refilling the water softener salt.
- The discharge hose runs from the tank to a drainpipe or drywell.
- The control valve includes a meter that measures the amount of water entering the tank and passing through to the house.

Jorge (George) and David arrived promptly and explained everything they would be doing. We had a smart switch installed for our outdoor lighting. Jorge had me download the app while he quickly installed the switch. He then walked me through … More the pairing and made sure I knew how the app worked. While Jorge was installing the smart switch, David was replacing our Soffit lights with colored app controlled LED lights. Once the soffit lights were installed, Jorge had me download the app for the lights, walked me through the pairing process and made sure the lights all got paired. He then walked me through how the app works and showed me some of the different features.
I was very pleased with the amount of time Jorge took in making sure I was comfortable with how everything worked. He made sure I was 100% satisfied with the work before leaving.
Jorge and David were very quick and left my home as they found it. They were friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable.
