Breakers & Fuses

Have you lost power to one part of your home? It may be the circuit breakers and fuses that may be the problem. There are 3 main reasons circuit breakers and fuses cut power from where they are connected.

1. There is a short circuit somewhere on the circuit. If you plug in an appliance and the circuit breaker or fuse trips, you may need to unplug the appliance and reset the breaker. If the breaker or fuse stays on, then there is more than likely a problem with the appliance. If the breaker or fuse trips again or does not work, then there may be a problem with your home’s wiring and you may want to contact an electrician. The problem could be located on the main electrical panel, an outlet box, switch box, or anywhere in between.

2. The circuit is overloaded. Too many appliances or lights on the same circuit can lead to problems with your electrical system. Keep track of what appliances are turned on when your problematic circuit breaker trips so that you can best explain the problem when our technicians come to you.

3. The circuit breaker is broken. Regardless of the size or type, circuit breakers need to be replaced because over time they do wear out. This can happen to any circuit breaker no matter what size or type.

  • I have had to deal with a lot of plumbing companies over the years and I will never go with anyone else other than Mike’s plumbing. I am glad I found them! They did a whole house repiping job for us and I cannot say enough about the work … More Juan and Steve did. I was absolutely amazed with their professionalism and expertise. I will recommend them to everyone I know. If you need any work done, you should definitely contact them.
